The performance of set books in Kenya has not only turned out to be a supplement to the classroom lessons in Kenya, but it has also created job opportunities for aspiring creatives. These actors and actresses later become great actors in favorite programs and our TV series. Set book performances do not only help students better understand the literature set books that are part of their curricula but it also allows the young actors to take something home as their wages after every performance.

1. JICHO FOUR PRODUCTION

Jicho Four Production is arguably the oldest existing set book production in Kenya. Jicho Four production Is the pioneer set book production founded by Odeck. Jicho Four has two subgroups; The theater static group and the traveling theatre group. Jicho Four holds its auditions and rehearsals at the Sarakasi Dome Theatre where it holds some of its shows. The traveling theatre subgroup virtually traverses the entire country performing in schools.

2. FANAKA ARTS THEATRE

Some teachers, set book actors, and theatre-goers consider Fanaka Arts Theatre as the second oldest set book production. Like Jicho Four Production, Fanaka Arts Theatre boasts of two subgroups. The static theatre group and the traveling theatre group. However, unlike Jicho Four production, Fanaka Arts Theatre has very few shows across the country. Fanaka Arts Theatre, therefore, engages most of its audience through performances held at Liberty Theater in the Pangani area in Nairobi. It's at Liberty theatre that Fanaka Arts Theatre also holds its auditions and rehearsals.
